Don’t get me wrong, I love New Worlds Wake and I’m so proud of the story and where it goes. But the road to publishing has been hell. Couple that with all the anger and frustration I’m feeling this week, it doesn’t feel like a happy launch. I touched on this in my story last night. I thought about pushing back the release date, but I know readers out there need escapism. There are readers who need to hear this story. These characters—a bisexual woman in a relationship with a bisexual man—deserve to share their story as they fight against their corrupt government. We use art as a way to channel our emotions from the world around us, be it past or present. New Worlds Wake isn’t a response to what happened this weekend. However, it is born of all the shit I have gone through as a woman with men gaslighting me. As a woman who wants to be in a position of power. As a woman who wants to take control of her own damn life and decisions. So I’m going to talk about my book. And I’m going to channel my anger and keep creating. I’m going to use my art as a way to express all the things I’m feeling and to connect with other people who are just as angry and hurt.
